Day 22: Internet Cafe
July 28th
There's something funny about being surrounded by extreme natural beauty, on a mountain, literally in a cloud, and seeing this Internet cafe. Also a little sad.

Day 20: Sumela
July 26th
Sumela Monastery.
Never made it all the way up the mountain to this beautiful place carved right into the face of the cliff, but it was beautiful nonetheless. The hike was full of waterfalls and some of the best views of the Trabzon mountains.
Sumela, Trabzon, Turkey.

Day 18: Uzungol
July 24th
I've never seen a place more beautiful in my life. A riverside city, all the way up in the mountains. Could almost touch the clouds :)

Today I Learned...
That having a roommate who naturally sleeps with eyelids a quarter of the way open reallllyyy freaks me out.
That I still, and will always, belong near a large body of water, preferably an ocean.

Day 16: Relax
July 22nd
Just some lavender I picked from by the sea today. Just the thought of lavender makes me relax.
Tarabzon, Turkey.

Day 15: Woosh
July 21st
That's the noise the ocean makes, the one I can hear all the time.
Oh and this is just the view from my room for the next 9 days. No biggie. Just the Black Sea. At dawn.
I belong by the ocean.
Tarabzon, Turkey.

Roro: Goodbye Istanbul!
Roro saying hello to the plane we took to Tarabzon, Turkey, from Istanbul.
The reason the picture is posted twice is so that I can display my hatred for flash on digital cameras. In the first pic, you see the beloved Roro but not the plane. The second pic, the opposite. Sigh.
Day 12: Laban
July 18th
In some restaurants in Turkey you can order laban ayran, which is basically salty yogurt/milk that comes in this bowl next to your meal with a small ladle for you to enjoy during your meal. Amazing? Yes.

Day 11: So high
July 17th
Fell in love all over again with Islamic architecture and art.
The highest-most dome from the inside of the Ayasofia, Istanbul, Turkey.

Today I Learned...
That I need to spend some time with a politically-minded Moroccan and seriously pick their brains.
That Sudanese people speak Arabic REALLY fast. I thought Egyptians spoke fast but these guys just take it to another level all together.
That I need more travel clothes that don't wrinkle. I've thus far convinced myself that ironing does not need to exist... but suitcases have a way of making you permanently looking like a bum. Ironing might need to come back into my life until I figure this one out *tear*.

Turkish Food
Turkish soup. My friend ordered this lentil soup at this Turkish restaurant today and said it was really good. The Turks apparently like to drink soup with every meal of the day!
Day 9: Wishes

That the Internet connection in Turkey is slow.
That there is (apparently) no bbm service in Turkey.

Day 8: limbo.
July 14th
Total limbo of a day, flying out of England, landing in Istanbul, stranded at the airport for about 2 hours, finally getting to the hotel, didn't take a single picture cuz camera battery is dead. Project 365, please forgive me :(

Day 7: Museums
July 13th
Museums and art work in general is very interpretive. I either love the piece or hate it, connect with it or not.
This was a HUGE piece the size of a museum wall.
Tate Modern, London, England.

Day 6: That's it?
July 12th
Buckingham Palace, England.
I just don't get what all the fuss was about. At least a bajillion people turned out for the change of the guard today, and most of them (me included) barely saw anything, and even then it's not that exhilirating. Really quite a waste of time.

Today I Learned...
That midnight soccer celebrations > watching the actual game.
That I much prefer being barefoot.
That I wish I brought my super comfortable running shoes with me, even if they don't look nice with anything.
That I could actually see myself living in London, England.
That the change of the guard in London, England at Buckingham Palace is just as overrated as the change of the guard in Ottawa, Canada.

Day 3: Moral of the Story
July 9th
Subway doors hurt....
...when they close shut on your arm.
Moral of the story: when you hear the beeps, don't run the risk.

Underground system.
There is something very important I have to say at this time. After spending only 2 whole days in London, England, I've realized that the underground subway system in Toronto, Canada is absolutely garbage.
Toronto = barely 4 proper lines. London = 13 lines.
Toronto population = 2,503,281. London population = 7,172,000.
Maybe that's why? But honestly, we can use more subway lines than what we have. We can learn something from the English. As long as it's not how to smoke 100 cigarettes a day.

Day 2: Hello London!
July 8th
Double decker buses, I love you dearly. And London, stop capturing my heart like that.
This is at Oxford Street. Never felt more claustrophobic anywhere else in my life!

Today I Learned...
Today I learned that one of the best feelings is finding out, while you're in flight, that your 7 hour flight has suddenly been reduced to 6 hours. Thats an hour gone, a whole HOUR! Almost did a little dance in the aisle :)

Day 1: Goodbye to you Canada

Oh Canada, our home and native land.
I'm gonna miss you. But I'll be back. One day.

Today I Learned... How Great This Song Is.
I never knew there were so many versions of this song, but today I found out, courtesy of YouTube.
This is my favorite version:
Cause I'm leaving on a jet plane
Don't know when Ill be back again
...
Except, I don't hate to go.
