Day 24: Reflective

July 30th

Islamic art and geometry make me reflective.
Panorama Museum, Istanbul, Turkey.

Roro: Bye Bye Trabzon

Day 23: Footprint

July 29th

Black Sea, you have left a print in my heart forever. Until next time...

Roro: Tear over the Black Sea

Roro says goodbye to the Black Sea. He will miss it dearly.

Day 22: Internet Cafe

July 28th

There's something funny about being surrounded by extreme natural beauty, on a mountain, literally in a cloud, and seeing this Internet cafe. Also a little sad.

Day 21: Somewhere...

July 27th

Umm somewhere up on the mountains on the way to Ayder.
Ayder-ish, Trabzon, Turkey.

Day 20: Sumela

July 26th

Sumela Monastery.
Never made it all the way up the mountain to this beautiful place carved right into the face of the cliff, but it was beautiful nonetheless. The hike was full of waterfalls and some of the best views of the Trabzon mountains.
Sumela, Trabzon, Turkey.

Day 19: More sunrise

July 25th

5:30am, Black Sea, Trabzon, Turkey.
'Nuff said.

Day 18: Uzungol

July 24th

I've never seen a place more beautiful in my life. A riverside city, all the way up in the mountains. Could almost touch the clouds :)
Uzungol, Turkey.

Day 17: Drops

July 23rd

So far, I've seen more rain in this country than even London, England.
Trabzon, Turkey.

Today I Learned...

That having a roommate who naturally sleeps with eyelids a quarter of the way open reallllyyy freaks me out.
That I still, and will always, belong near a large body of water, preferably an ocean.

Day 16: Relax

July 22nd

Just some lavender I picked from by the sea today. Just the thought of lavender makes me relax.

Tarabzon, Turkey.

Day 15: Woosh

July 21st

That's the noise the ocean makes, the one I can hear all the time.
Oh and this is just the view from my room for the next 9 days. No biggie. Just the Black Sea. At dawn.

I belong by the ocean.
Tarabzon, Turkey.

Day 14: Women

July 20th

Cutest women's washroom sign ever? Possibly.

At the airport in Istanbul, Turkey.

Roro: Goodbye Istanbul!

Roro saying hello to the plane we took to Tarabzon, Turkey, from Istanbul.
The reason the picture is posted twice is so that I can display my hatred for flash on digital cameras. In the first pic, you see the beloved Roro but not the plane. The second pic, the opposite. Sigh.

Day 13: Leaving Istanbul

July 19th

On the way to Tarabzon, Turkey.

Day 12: Laban

July 18th

In some restaurants in Turkey you can order laban ayran, which is basically salty yogurt/milk that comes in this bowl next to your meal with a small ladle for you to enjoy during your meal. Amazing? Yes.
Istanbul, Turkey.

Balance

Balance in life in everything you do is key.
The inside of the Ayasofia, Istanbul, Turkey.

Day 11: So high

July 17th

Fell in love all over again with Islamic architecture and art.
The highest-most dome from the inside of the Ayasofia, Istanbul, Turkey.

Today I Learned...

That I need to spend some time with a politically-minded Moroccan and seriously pick their brains.
That Sudanese people speak Arabic REALLY fast. I thought Egyptians spoke fast but these guys just take it to another level all together.
That I need more travel clothes that don't wrinkle. I've thus far convinced myself that ironing does not need to exist... but suitcases have a way of making you permanently looking like a bum. Ironing might need to come back into my life until I figure this one out *tear*.

Turkish Food

Turkish soup. My friend ordered this lentil soup at this Turkish restaurant today and said it was really good. The Turks apparently like to drink soup with every meal of the day!

Day 10: Sunrise

July 16th

Sunrise over the rooftops, seen from the hotel terrace.
Istanbul, Turkey.

Day 9: Wishes

July 15th
My favorite notebook :)
Taking lots of notes these days and having an inspiring notebook helps.

D'you know wha I mean?

Inspiring words at the Tate Modern (museum).

Today I Learned...

That the Internet connection in Turkey is slow.
That there is (apparently) no bbm service in Turkey.
